AEAJ seminar and General assembly on 16-17 May 2025 in Ljubljana

AEAJ held the seminar of its Working Group Independence and Efficiency and its General Assembly in Ljubljana on 16 &17 May 2025. The event was kindly hosted by the Supreme Court of Slovenia.

The Slovenian Association of Judges is a member of AEAJ since 2005. AEAJ congratulates its new president Tomaž Bromše for its recent election.

 OSCE - Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights supported the event to facilitate participation of Western Balkans administrative judges.

The yearly seminar of the AEAJ Working Group "Independence and Efficiency" was entitled : "Toward the Cyber Administrative Judge - Transforming the Judicial Process at the Digital Age".

In particular, the seminar associated as speakers six administrative judges with specific expertise in the field of AI and IT systems. On Thursday, after presenting their respective national IT tools, they joined together for a panel discussion on the professional challenges raised by AI (picture).

The Working Group concluded the seminar by approving, after debate, the AEAJ Ljubljana Statement on Artificial Intelligence.

On Friday 17 May afternoon, the General assembly opened with online speeches delivered by representatives of the All-Ukrainian association of administrative judges Natalia Blazhivska and of the US ABA-NCALJ Adam Wolkoff.

The General assembly elected the AEAJ Board members for two years.

AEAJ adresses its deepest thanks to its departing vice-president Evgenia Papadopoulou, who stayed within the Board for seven years and co-chaired of the Working Group Taxation since 2011.

Its congratulates Juhana Niemi (Finland) for its first election as AEAJ vice-president (picture).

Mehmet Tank, former Turkish administrative judge, offered conclusive words.
