WG Asylum and Immigration
Description
Foreigners are, vis-Ã -vis the State authorities, in a unilateral relationship which is quintessentially administrative law. Asylum and migration cases make a large part of the activity of administrative courts and administrative judges throughout Europe.
Asylum law and Migration law are largely shaped by European law, especially the case-law of both the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. However, national courts sometimes still interpret and apply European law differently in these areas.
The Working Group Asylum and Immigration is a forum on current developments in asylum and migration law. Its annual meeting allows a direct exchange of views between practitioners from across Europe working in these areas of law.
Speakers include national administrative judges, but also judges from the CJEU and the ECtHR, as well as experts from EUAA, UNHCR and other international and european organisations.
