epitaph for Dr. Heinrich Zens
On 22. November 2020 the former President of AEAJ
Dr. Heinrich Zens
passed away in Vienna at the age of 63.
He was one of the founding members, vice-president from 2004 to 2006, and under his presidency from 2006 to 2014 thanks to his efforts the Association continued to blossom by e.g. the implementation of Working Groups and annual meetings. With his knowledge, his elegance, style and kindness he was well known amongst members of the administrative judiciary all over Europe and gave the Association a face with Viennese charme. In his last position as a presiding judge at the Austrian Administrative Court of Justice he continued his support for the Association in the alumni board where he participated in the development of strategies and policies for the Association.
On behalf of the Association the Board of AEAJ regrets his early death on which we do not only lose a friend but a great judge with virtues difficult and rare to find, who believed like us in the future of a European judiciary growing together. Our thoughts are with his family.
